Matcha Tea Powder: We used sora matcha, a culinary-grade matcha tea powder. It is essential to pick a quality matcha tea that will help yield tasty and green-colored pancakes. Matcha contains caffeine. As a tea drinker, eating these pancakes was an excellent substitute for drinking tea. These fluffy matcha pancakes gave me the energy and mental focus I needed. It makes so much sense since I am eating the matcha differently. I suggest this matcha pancake as the perfect breakfast or snack for study time or exam seasons. 

Sugar: Adds sweetness and softness 

Milk: We used 3.25% cow milk. You may substitute it with another type of milk. 

Flour: We used all-purpose flour. If using a different flour, the proportions may need to be adjusted. 

Oil and Butter: Oil adds softness, and butter improves the taste of the matcha pancakes. 

Egg: The egg binds all the ingredients together. 

How to make the matcha pancakes?

  • Gather all the ingredients (getting a culinary grade matcha tea powder is key)

  • Mix all ingredients

  • Form and cook pancakes (flip them once bubbles start to form).

  • Garnish with your favorite toppings, white chocolate cream, maple syrup, fruits, or honey. 

Tips to succeed in making these fluffy matcha pancakes 

  • Use quality culinary-grade matcha powder for tasty green pancakes 

  • Turn the pancakes as soon as bubbles form to increase fluffiness. 

  • Avoid overcooking the pancakes so they remain soft.

We used sora matcha, however, double-check with the manufacturer which matcha is ideal for cooking and baking.
