Steps for making a delicious pumpkin bredie:

  1. Brown meat and reserve

  2. Brown onions

  3. Add cubed pumpkins, spices, water, and meat to the pan

  4. Simmer and cover

What kind of pumpkin or squash can you use for the pumpkin bredie?

Winter squashes that are relatively easy to peel and sweet are a good option (use a short knife for peeling after dividing the pumpkin or squash in manageable pieces):

  • sugar pumpkin

  • kabocha (sweet mama variety)

  • butternut

  • red Kuri (potimarron)

  • Cinderella’s pumpkin (potiron vif d’Etampe)
